Ana Ivanovic has always had a preference for Yonex racquets throughout her career, and when the EZONE Xi 98 was launched this became her preferred racquet. The Xi technology is Extra Isometric Square Head Shape that greatly expand the sweetspot towards the upper part of the frame. This expanded sweetspot adds more power while reducing the vibrations at the same time. It is so easy to spot a Yonex racquet, because of this nontraditional shape.
Yonex has added a grid inside the grip of the EZONE Xi 98 to absorb the vibrations from 2 tubes within the grip. The reduction of this vibration helps to produce more powerful groundstrokes. Just above the grip, players are benefiting from an improved Yonex oval pressed shaft. Rounder corners provides a better flex, while the shaft face has been made wider for increased stability.
Ezone Xi 98 make use of an integrated power weight system that places weight at 3 and 9 o'clock positions on the racquet. This is perfectly integrated and is not visible on the frame, but players get more stability and power from this feature.
This is a very maneuverable racquet at 11.5 ounces that offers lots of control, and the balance is located at 6 points head light. Baseline players have no problems developing power and spin, and at the net volleys can be executed with authority.
